Who Can Start and End a Natter?

A Natter is managed by the person who created it, along with anyone else added as a host. Hosts are responsible for starting and ending the Natter for all participants, launching the 1:1 conversations, and managing the backstage view while those conversations are underway.

How Do I Start a Natter?

Step 1: Open Natter

Either select the Natter link which you have created (which follows the format app.natter.co/event-public/1234567) or go directly to Natter Events via https://app.natter.co/my-events/upcoming.

Step 2: Log in and choose your Community

Sign in with your account details. If you belong to more than one Community, use the Communities drop-down in the top-left to select the relevant one.

Step 3: Go to the Events tab

Select Events from the left-hand menu. You'll see two tabs: Upcoming scheduled Natters and Completed ones hosted in the Community.

Step 4: Select your Natter and click Start Event

Choose the Natter you want to run to open its page, then click Start Event.
You can still edit a Natter's details and content right up until you start it - select the pencil icon to the right of the Start button to Edit.

Step 5: Confirm

A pop-up will ask you to confirm - "By starting this Event, all participants will be able to join". Click Start in the pop-up and the Natter will open for all participants. You will then have the option to join the event yourself using the Join Event button.

Step 6: Test your audio and video

You'll be prompted to test your video and audio settings. Allow access when prompted if it's your first time joining a Natter session. Once you have confirmed your Camera, Microphone and Speaker access - click Join.

How Do I End a Natter?

When you're ready to wrap up, click the red End Event button at the bottom of your screen. A confirmation modal will appear "This ends the Event for everyone and can't be undone." Once you confirm, the Natter ends for all participants and you're given the option to navigate to your Insight Reports.

Why it matters that the host ends the Natter

Ending the Natter is what sends participants to the Exit Survey if configured. It's important the host ends it deliberately, and that you allow enough time for participants to complete their exit questions - this is a key opportunity to capture insight, so factoring in a few minutes at the close is well worth it.
