How Does Backstage Work?
As a Host, once the 1:1 conversations begin, you'll move to the Backstage view. From here you can view and monitor each conversation, track live metrics, respond to any queries or issues, and start Broadcast or end the Natter.
What Metrics Can I See Backstage?
Backstage displays two live metrics:
Active Participants: the number of participants currently in a live 1:1 conversation.
Words Transcribed: an estimated, real-time indication of transcription activity across the live conversations. It rises as more conversations take place, giving a sense of the scale of discussion underway.
How Do I Join a Conversation Live?
You can drop into any 1:1 conversation to support participants.
Step 1: Select the conversation you'd like to join. To find it quickly, search for the person you want to speak to, or select a conversation where a participant has raised their hand for support.
Step 2: Click the Join Natter button located between the participants' names.
Step 3: Once you've joined, you can return to Backstage at any point by clicking the Back to Backstage button in the bottom-right corner of your screen.
How Do I Return Everyone to Broadcast?
There are two ways participants return to Broadcast:
Automatically - When the timer reaches 0:00, all participants are moved back to Broadcast automatically. You don't need to do anything.
Manually - If you need to return to Broadcast partway through, click Resume Broadcast in the bottom menu options, then click Resume when the modal appears. Everyone is brought back after 10 seconds, giving them a moment to wrap up (you'll return instantly).
When you return to Broadcast, you and anyone who was on stage when the conversations began are automatically returned to the Stage with microphone and camera enabled, even if you were in the Audience beforehand. From the Stage, you can demote yourself to the Audience if you wish.
