How do I start a Natter?
Log in and select the relevant Community from the drop-down. Go to the Events tab, locate your Natter, and click Start Event. Confirm in the pop-up, then test your video and audio settings when prompted before joining.
How do I bring participants onto the Stage?
Select the three dots beside a participant's name and click Invite to Stage. This enables their microphone and camera so they can interact with others on the Stage.
What happens if I encounter technical issues during a Natter?
If you experience Wi-Fi or device issues, close your browser tab, restart your device, or switch to another device. The Natter will keep running, and you can rejoin when ready without interrupting it.
How should I set conversation durations?
If participants don't know each other well, set conversations to 10 minutes to allow for introductions and meaningful discussion. For participants who are already familiar, 7 minutes works well.
How do I moderate the chat?
Enable Moderate Chat to review and approve messages before they're visible to everyone. You can reject inappropriate messages, or use Approve All if managing a high volume.
Can I record a Natter?
Yes, in two ways:
Enable recording during the Natter creation process.
Toggle recording on and off manually during the Natter. Recorded files are available to download afterwards.
How do I start the 1:1 conversations?
Click Start Nattering and configure the settings: choose a topic, set the duration, and select your transcription setting (Require Consent, Transcription On, or Transcription Off). Once started, participants are automatically matched into conversations.
What is the Backstage view, and how does it work?
Backstage lets you monitor ongoing conversations, view live metrics, and handle participant queries. You can also return everyone to Broadcast from here.
How do I end a Natter and ensure participants complete the Exit Survey?
When you're ready to wrap up, click the red End Event button at the bottom of your screen and confirm. This ends the Natter for everyone and sends all participants to the Exit Survey if configured.
What should I do with participants who don't need to be on Stage after the 1:1s?
Demote them from the Stage by selecting the three dots beside the participant's names and click Demote to Audience. This keeps the Stage organised for the next discussion.
